Keynote

Steven Booth – VP & CSO FireEye

As the Chief Security Officer, Steven is in charge of leading all aspects of IT security at FireEye.  This includes the ongoing development and execution of enterprise-wide security architecture and monitoring programs, as well as technology risk and compliance.  Steven directs the implementation of security controls, standards, policies and procedures to ensure continuous monitoring and protection of information systems and physical property while ensuring that compliance is maintained against both corporate security policies and industry standards.

Prior to joining FireEye, Steven was the AVP of Information Security and CISO at Manulife/John Hancock in Boston, Massachusetts, where he had global responsibility for all IT security in the US, Canada, and 11 countries in Asia.  He previously held the role of Cybersecurity Architect at Microsoft and ran security operations for VeriSign’s MSSP.  Steven has a B.S. in Business Management from CSUH and a Master’s degree in Digital Security from Golden Gate University.

Speakers

Ben Johnson – CTO and Co-Founder Obsidian

Ben Johnson is CTO and co-founder of Obsidian Security, an identity-centric security start-up. Prior to founding Obsidian, he co-founded Carbon Black and most recently served as the company’s Chief Security Strategist. As the company’s original CTO, he led efforts to create the first EDR (endpoint detection & response) product and helped define the next-generation endpoint security space. Prior to Carbon Black, Ben was an NSA computer scientist and later worked as a cyber engineer in an advanced intrusion operations division for the intelligence community. In addition to Obsidian, Ben is currently a technical advisor to the US FISA Court and sits on boards of multiple security startups.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. He lives in Newport Beach, CA with his wife and three sons.

Eric Johnson – Co-founder Puma Scan and SANS Instructor and Board Member

Eric works with organizations to train engineers, build secure products, and integrate security into the development lifecycle. Eric is co-founder of Puma Scan, a software security Visual Studio analyzer extension that provides real time, continuous source code analysis as development teams write code. He is a certified SANS instructor and author for DEV531 Mobile App Security Essentials and DEV544 Secure Coding in .NET, as well as an instructor for DEV534 Secure DevOps and DEV541 Secure Coding in Java/JEE.  Eric is also an advisory board member for the SANS Securing the Human Developer awareness training program.

Roger Grimes – Data Defense Evangelist KnowBe4

Roger is a firm believer that people and companies use data and the scientific method to improve their computer security.  As a 30+-year senior computer security consultant and cybersecurity architect, Roger has specialized in general computer security, identity management, PKI, Windows computer security, host security, cloud security, honeypots and APT, defending against hackers and malware. Roger has written 10 books (6 solo, 4 co-written) and over 1000 national magazine articles on computer security and is a weekly computer security columnist for InfoWorld/CSO magazines.

Brian Johnson – Co-founder and General Partner at Crucyble

Brian’s vast experience includes being the CISO at Lending Club (LC) and leadership positions at Netflix (NFLX) and ForeScout (FSCT). Brian has helped design, build, and secure systems for the U.S. Department of Defense, Global Finance, and Technology companies at scale. He has enjoyed speaking on innovation and maturing security organizations at the RSA Conference and National Press Club. Brian has worked with Federal Agencies and Policy Advisors to influence actionable change in national security policy and is an active advisor and mentor to several startups and founders in Silicon Valley.
